Few Tips For Learning Spanish Fluently

Learning Spanish can be exasperating and confusing, especially if you're trying to remember if a word is masculine or feminine, if you had used it properly in the sentence, and if you pronounced it right! It becomes worse if you're under pressure to learn, like if your scheduled business trip is looming on the horizon.

First of all, you need to work on making your ears accept Spanish. Now while Spanish has a few strange ways of constructing their words, written language is vastly different from the spoken one. You must learn how to listen to how it sounds, and the best way to do that is to surround yourself with the spoken Spanish language. Why not take a look at the Spanish singers? You might find one whose voice and music you enjoy, then listen to him or her all the time.

Switch your cable channels over to Spanish instead of English. Even just watching half an hour of Spanish everyday does a lot to help. Why not watch the world news in Spanish? If you have a basic idea of what the news is all about through CNN or BBC, watching it on Spanish news will make understanding it easier.

Don't stop speaking! The only way to say is right is to speak it. It's like a person that studies how to drive a car but has never gotten behind the wheel. He can tell you all the driving rules but will probably bump into something on his first trip out. Speaking Spanish requires constant practice, just like driving. You don't need to speak to a person at first. Take yourself out for test drives with online language tutors or practice lessons with a Spanish-speaking friend. You can also record yourself reading a bit of Spanish material and listen how a native speaker reads it. Then, compare how the two of you sound.

The Spanish language, otherwise called as Espa?ol or Castellano, is an Iberian Romance language that is spoken by over 400 million people worldwide.

Latin, which was brought to the Iberian Peninsula during the Second Punic War around 210 BC by the Romans, is the basic foundation of the Spanish language.

In the 5th century, readjustments were made on the consonants to develop what is now known as the modern Spanish language. To date, Spanish continues to develop new words as well as adopt words from other foreign languages.

When the Spanish Empire expanded during the 15th and 19th centuries, the Spanish language likewise spread like wildfire throughout the Asia Pacific, Americas as well as in Africa. Now, Spanish has become one of the six official languages in the United Nations.

Colonial governments likewise used Spanish at various times in the Northern Mariana Islands, Guam, and the Philippines. Spanish became the official language of the Philippines during the reign of the Spaniards in the country, but was later changed in the Constitution in 1973.

Now back to Spanish immersion and learning the language, there are actually a lot of ways to easily grasp the language.

Learning a new language would be easy if you "live the language" just like you did when you learned your native language since birth.

In a Spanish immersion school, students are mandated to live the language, wherein speaking another language is strictly prohibited. During immersion, your Spanish vocabulary will definitely take progress as you live within a Spanish-speaking environment where you can experience Spanish phrases and Spanish verbs and how they are being conveyed in real situations.

Taking trips to Spanish speaking countries can also help you pick up the language easily or better yet before exploring the real world, why don't you try surfing the web for possibilities of learning Spanish online.

Trying to teach yourself Spanish? Learning Spanish is really easy, all you need is a little practice and you will get the hang of it real fast. When you begin learning conversational Spanish, you will need to start with the very foundation, learning the basic greetings.

Hello!

Let's start with the very basic. Learning how to say "hello" in Spanish.

In Spanish, hello is simply, "hola". It is pronounced as "oh-la".

After the initial greeting, you will probably follow up with a "how are you" question. For that, it will be "Como estas?" It is really easy to pronounce. Simply break the words up like you do in phonics. It is pronounced as "co-mo es-tas".

Formal versus Informal

If you are speaking to your boss, a superior, someone whom you are not familiar with, or someone older than you, you will have to use the formal way of asking. The formal way of asking "how are you" is "como esta usted". The pronunciation will be as follows, "co-mo es-ta woo-stad".

Remember in Spanish, they are rather strict with the formal and informal language of speaking. Do take note of that so that you will not be perceived as rude when speaking to another in the language.

If you are greeting a friend, you can use the phrase "que tal", pronounced as "kay tal". It is the English equivalent of "what's up". So, do not go to your Spanish speaking boss and go "que tal".

Replies

Now that you have learnt how to ask the questions, when you teach yourself spanish, you will need to learn the replies as well. This is so that you can understand what the person is saying and reply appropriately when the question is posed to you.

When asked "how are you", people usually reply with simple answers like "great" or "good". So you can simply reply "bien" which translates to "good" or "muy bien" which means very good. They are pronounced as follows, "moo-ee bee-and".

Of course, there are many different types of replies such as "I am not feeling well" and so forth but we cannot cover all of them in this article.

Remember, when you teach yourself Spanish, it may be difficult in the beginning but just persist on. With the help of a good program, you will be able to speak Spanish fluently in no time!

Live English Classes - Making Learning Easier

Seeing something live and in person is often a rewarding experience for those in attendance. You are the first to see things unfold. Your excitement at seeing these events as they happen can't be compared to anything else. And you walk away with a feeling of satisfaction, knowing that you got the most out of whatever it was you just witnessed. Live performances stick in your mind clearer than something you've witnessed second hand, such as through a recording. Live English classes work the same way. They are better for your learning experience as a whole. How?

Live English classes take place in real time. This means that they are going to happen while you're watching them. What does this mean for you? It simply means that you're not going to miss out on anything. You won't get the edited version. You'll be able to soak up everything that happens as it happens. Having a firsthand experience with something will sit on your memory longer. You'll be able to recall more from the experience as a whole. Your other senses are also in play. You're able to recall what you heard, saw, and how these things made you feel. This is all part of the learning experience.

Live English classes create a general comfortable environment for learning. It's much better than learning from a computer program. A CD or a programmed lesson can only teach you what it's been programmed to teach you. This means that if you have a snag in the road, it can be very difficult to sort it out by yourself. The program isn't human. It doesn't understand frustration or any other emotions. It can't answer your questions. It can only do what it was designed to do, which is teaching you the basics of the English language.

These problems aren't present when learning online. Live English classes allow you to ask questions and get the answer from your instructor in terms that you understand. It also allows you to be in a position to help others in your class learn. The instructor may have problems communicating the solution to a question with someone. Perhaps you can tell them the answer in terms that they can understand. This sharpens your skills, and impresses into your mind what you have just been taught. Learning from a live class is much better than learning from an electronic program.

Learning Spanish Fast in a Global Economy

Parents want their children to have the best education possible and part of that is gaining skills that can be used in the future workplace environment. As we become more of a global economy it is becoming increasingly common to interact with colleagues and customers that do not speak English as their first language. Obviously there is some give and take in the amount of time you have available to learn any subject as a youth. In the past learning Spanish may have taken a back seat to computer skills, physical education, art, or another elective course that is not part of the typical core subject taught on a daily basis.

We have certainly seen the importance and the growth involved with learning computer skills over the past 20 years, as at one time a computer class may have consisted of playing Oregon trail for an hour. Clearly this wasn't an effective use of time. The school day has not grown, however we have seen these subjects gaining importance in the amount of time focused in learning the essential skills. It seems clear that if there is the impetus and a growing importance in a community for a school to give more emphasis on language studies that the school's curriculum will be altered likewise to give more focus on developing a students ability to speak a second language.

This particular subject was given close attention by Rosetta Stone as released by Market Watch, conducted a study to determine the needs for learning foreign language. They determined that parents felt it was extremely important for their children to learn a second language in order to stay competitive in today's marketplace and that it is a deciding factor in the overall intelligence of a person. It is no longer thought of just another "culture" course. Clearly this study gives credence to the use of their language courses to build your resume and utilize your time efficiently by fitting in their lessons when time is available. Spanish Abroad has seen the ability of Rosetta Stone's courses to provide a means of learning a language and has offered one month of free online Spanish courses prior to the start of any of your Spanish Immersion programs for several years now.

Many people feel that a true Spanish immersion course abroad is the best way to learn Spanish fast as you actually think in Spanish rather than simply translate it your mind. You are forced to speak the language with locals and carry actual conversations in real life scenarios. The formal classroom setting gives you a forum to go back to on a daily basis to build the necessary grammar, vocabulary, and structure needed to carry a smooth and understandable conversation. You can also fit an Spanish immersion course into a week long vacation, as well a month to 3 month winter or summer break.

In addition to accommodations your host family will provide you a home base where you know you will have someone who will help you practice Spanish. Host parents and their children are accustomed to having foreigners in their home who are learning Spanish and are better at giving you the time to construct your thoughts while communicating. They also are great at correcting you when you are wrong, so that you have constant reinforcement to build your Spanish ability and confidence in speaking.

By learning Spanish in an immersed environment you can go into any work situation and effectively speak with clients and co-workers who speak in Spanish on a daily basis. They will see that you have taken the time in life to learn this skill which you can use in your every day work life. You will become part of the global community and open yourself up to being able to communicate with millions of additional people in this world.

Learn English Online - Why and How

You may need to learn English if you reside in a country where English is the official or most commonly spoken language. You may have to learn it in order to communicate with English speaking relatives or friends. If you're in the business world, you may have to learn English to effectively be able to talk to business partners or employees in other parts of the world. If you want to go to school abroad, or study in an English speaking country, you will need to learn English. English is increasingly considered a global language. Learning it is becoming increasingly more important every day. You don't have to go to a traditional school to learn English. You can learn English online.

Learning English online requires dedication and discipline. Some people don't realize it, but you have to adhere to a schedule when you decide to learn English online. Phrases like "learn at your own pace" and "at your convenience" are true to an extent. They promote an air of freedom, but sometimes this freedom is taken too liberally. People will wind up flaking out on their courses, wasting time and money. You have to really be grounded in order to make your training a success. But this doesn't have to be a problem if you're in the right frame of mind to do so.

First, you have to set up your schedule ahead of time. A vague schedule isn't going to do. Instead of saying "I can learn English online in the morning while my husband is out at work," set a specific time for you to sign in to your English classes. Put it on a schedule, as if it's an appointment. Set an alarm if you have to, but stick to it. Setting aside that definite block of time for learning means that you're going to stick to the schedule you've set up for yourself. You can always rearrange things if something happens that makes you unable to attend class.

Most importantly, you need to schedule breaks. If you've got three hours of time to study English online, then take a break in between. One or two breaks will suffice, perhaps even three. This prevents you from getting bored with your classes, and flaking out on them altogether. It may help to schedule things to do on your break as well. Take a walk. Walk around the block, or go play with your pet. Do a chore, grab some food. Just keep yourself active, so that you can stay interested and be successful in completing your course.

Free Italian Lessons Are A Great Start For Learning Italian

For learning Italian a great place to start is free Italian lessons. These free Italian lessons get you an introduction to the language and can help you to find out if learning Italian is for you.

Free lessons will not get you conversational in Italian unless you are prepared to spend a lot of time and to take much longer than it should. So if you are searching for free resources so you don't have to spend any money to learn Italian you might as well stop. It's not going to happen!

If you don't believe me go and try it! In a year or so you will have expanded your Italian vocabulary and maybe learned some Italian verb conjugation but you will be no closer to speaking Italian than you are right now.

The only way to learn Italian completely free is to go live in an Italian-speaking community. Then you'll pick it up by absorbing it naturally. And that is the best way to learn any language. So I suppose I am contradicting myself by saying you can't learn Italian free. However, I don't believe that moving to an Italian-speaking community is free, and nor is it practical for most of us.

Getting back to free Italian lessons, it makes sense for you to seek out lessons which give you free exposure to spoken Italian. After all if that is the best way to learn a language you might as well start with the most effective approach!

But whatever approach you choose, please ensure that it involves immersion. Too many people have tried to learn Italian in weekly classes, or even with tutors, only to give up because they are not able to understand or speak Italian even after many classes. And that's a shame, because it is a beautiful language to learn.

The other thing to make sure about the free Italian lessons is that they should be daily, which makes the internet the right choice. Daily reinforcement will exponentially drive your learning speed. There are many options available to you, and a simple search will get you started.

Even though they are free, it really is worth your while doing a little bit of research to make a good choice. After all, you don't want to waste your time and effort on a useless course and in many cases you get exactly what you pay for!

Online Corporate English Training - The Importance

English in the corporate world is becoming a necessity. Since businesses are constantly looking to expand, many are finding that the walls presented by languages must be broken down in order to be successful. This is where online corporate English training comes into play. These classes are designed to teach people who are already familiar with the business world how to communicate terms and other necessary things through the English language. There is nothing better than breaking down the language barrier in order to allow your company to take the next step.

Who can benefit from online corporate English training? Anyone that's in the business world can reap the benefits. Specifically speaking, several groups stand to benefit above all others. These groups include lawyers, project managers and those in the finance field. Lawyers, for example, can find that their career is far more lucrative if their area of expertise is corporate law. This requires them to be familiar with laws that are not only in their country, but in other countries as well. Let's say one corporation has offices in America and Japan. The corporation would need two sets of lawyers, each familiar with his or her own country's laws. However, these lawyers still need to communicate to get their jobs done and protect their corporation. Learning English can help in this regard.

For project managers, online corporate English training is a must. There is a shortage of project managers all over the world. Many companies are hiring project managers outside of their country just to fill the need in their own business. Most of these project managers speak English. Again, in order to effectively communicate with these individuals, both parties must learn English. In this case, if the project manager is hired from another country, and moved to the English speaking company to fill the need, he or she will need to learn English in order to be successful at their job.

In the finance field, online corporate English training is practically mandatory. This is because the entire global economy is connected, and ruled by English speaking countries. Even something as inconsiderate as the price of gold per ounce is determined by English speaking countries. Many countries have banks that are open to overseas accounts, such as in Switzerland. These countries realize the need for their staff to learn English, so that they can better serve their English-speaking clients. It also helps in bringing in new clients, making their business more lucrative and successful.

Learning Chinese Is Not That Difficult

Chinese is really a very strange and exotic language for our English speakers. To a very large extent, learning Chinese could be a harsh task for us. It is not a play-game, but slightly serious. Certainly we still can learn this language well.

In the beginning when we touch the Chinese language, we must feel very puzzled about its different pronunciation. Of course, Chinese language also includes characters, but today we just leave it alone. We focus on its oral part.

As for the pronunciation, we English speakers often go the wrong way. For instance, we may read the Chinese character "people" as the fisrt tone, but it is said in standard Chinese as the second tone. In this case if we pronounce all the Chinese words from the improper direction, our meaning will most probably be misunderstood by even the native Chinese people. So for our English speakers, speaking Chinese in the correct tones in the beginning is very crucial for our future Chinese conversational communication. Due to this problem, being very sensitive to Chinese tones should be our first task.

But don't hope to learn Chinese language too fast, just for sveral days or weeks. It is a language, which has too many elements we should notice and be cautious. But we can learn this language a little faster merely on the interface for communication. Make Chinese friends!

You know, Chinese people are learning English. So they are very eager to become friends with us who speak this language as the mother tongue. I think, this is a win-win situation! For us, we can get better and more native Chinese, and for those Chinese, they can learn English better as well. Why not do it?

And nowadays, the Internet has become so popular and powerful. Thus you can surf the Internet to get some useful information for your Chinese learning as well. Or perhaps you can find Chinese people on the web where you can converse with them as another learning entrance.

Or you may choose a software learning program, like Rosetta Stone Chinese which will help you to learn Chinese naturally without too much trouble.

More interestingly, if you want to use a software to learn other foreign languages, such as Spanish and English. I just humbly suggest that you had better take Rosetta Stone Spanish and Rosetta Stone English for a try.

I like learning, about lots of things. Language learning is part of it. Apart from it, I learn to know science, nature, computer and so on.I hope to post all the things I have learned into this place, sharing my happiness.

Natural English Pronunciation and Accent Reduction

Are you learning English as a second language? Do you sound, how to put this... less than natural while speaking? In other words, is your non-English accent too obvious? Well, it's an old and known problem. Nevertheless, it is possible to do something about it.

Let's look at it closely. What in fact makes the accent? Your pronunciation of each and every sound! The stress you put, your speed of speech and emphasis. All these things vary from one language to the other. Therefore, you cannot use your own language's rules while speaking English. Actually, you could - but most chances are that it won't sound natural in English.

So what can you do?

Start with learning the different sounds of English. You might be surprised, but while English has only 26 letters, it has over 40 different sounds! So when you see the letter A, for example, there are several ways in which it can be pronounced! Examine the following words: cat, arm, take, eat, about. The letter A is pronounced differently in each and every one of them! Confused? Don't be! It's only complicated if you try to understand everything at once.

When you take it step by step, it all makes sense in the end. (Yes, in the end. Don't try to rush it.) So where do you start in all of this English pronunciation mess? You can find a good online guide to English pronunciation and take the care and time to learn each sound. Listen, and practice, practice, practice. And in a time, hopefully not so far from now, you will be able to speak English much more naturally!

How Learning Chinese Can Give You a Competitive Advantage

How is it valuable to learn Chinese? The answer may surprise you: Chinese is the world's biggest language. That's right, larger than English when using statistics regarding how many speakers use it as a native language! Answer number two: in the ever rotating globe, many economists today are predicting the lessening economic place of the United States of America in the world economy, and the rising economic place of China. That is only one tiny reason why Chinese is the most valuable language for workers in the global marketplace. Job offers in consulting, legal institutions, medical, chemistry, and many other industries even within Western societies are starting to demand skill in Standard Chinese as a compliment to English ability. To stay the best in the modern workforce, it is important to learn a second language other than English, and many would say there is no language more important than Chinese.

With that said, scores of people who live outside of China are reluctant to vacation to Communist China, abuses of human rights, attitudes against foreigners, foreigners arrested as spies for common tourist actions, in addition to other excuses. Perhaps rightly so. That said, what is the most practical solution for this problem? At which country can you find a Chinese speaking culture and people, accepting of foreign citizens, with high living standards, and democratic rule of law where you can study Mandarin easily? The right answer is to visit Taiwan, which is called the Republic of China (R.O.C.). The "republic" on the mainland is known as the People's Republic of China.

Inside of the R.O.C. island of Taiwan, there is a Western friendly government, a lively environment, a people friendly to Westerners, and among the lowest crime rates in the world, with rates far lower than mainland China. The citizens of Taiwan are hard working and the business market is rapidly expanding. The modern situation has created a tremendous need for Western graudates such as lawyers, managers, and other skilled employees to arrive on the scene to help in the consistent growth of their economy. Taking programs in Mandarin Chinese should help workers give potential applicants a huge leg up on their monolingual applicants. Also, a high percent of Mandarin-speaking employers, or those with Mandarin speaking customers are scouting for Chinese learners who have lived at a Chinese-speaking country like the island called "Taiwan", especially with workers who are often required to enlist in corporate trips overseas.

The Delights of English Pronunciation - The Loughborough Chough

A Loughborough chough

Sat and sulked on a bough.

"I have suffered enough,"

Muttered he, "here in Slough."

"Living here in this borough

Is cold, damp and rough;

And the cats are so thorough -

Avoiding them, tough!"

"I've got quite enough dough

To get out of this trough.

A new furrow I'll plough, although

Now I've a cough."

"That's enough," thought the chough,

"Of the sough through this bough!

Think I'll take off and slough

Off the memories of Slough!"

I have always had a great love of the English language; it is rich, mellifluous and incredibly varied (although also sadly under-used, with many people employing a limited vocabulary in their everyday lives). Despite my enthusiasm, however, I am the first to admit that "what you see is what you get" is certainly not true when it comes to pronunciation, even without worrying about regional variations. I am a native English speaker, but come into contact with many friends and colleagues who are attempting to master it as a second language. This poem was written in sympathy for their struggles - as well as being a bit of fun. Words ending with "-ough"? with all their differing pronunciations, are but one example of what we put you guys through. Stick with it, however: it is a wonderful language and worth the effort! ?

I am sure you will go and look up any of the words with which you are not familiar, but to get you started - a chough (prounounced "chuff")? is a medium-sized bird with black plumage and red legs and bill; and Loughborough ("luff-bara") is a town in Leicestershire around the middle of England.?The sough in question in the last few lines is of course the wind, and not the drainage ditch...

Italian For Beginners Tips

If you're at the Italian for beginners phase, don't despair. Did you know that over 85% of people who set out to learn a new language fail? Again, don't despair! All being at the Italian for beginners stage means is that you don't have to make the same mistakes that they made. Because most of them choose the wrong approach!

Sure, some just plain didn't have the right motivation. But the majority were going about learning Italian the wrong way, and it should be no surprise that they failed!

Now, I'm not going to tell you here to buy a particular product and it will guarantee your success! Instead, I'll tell you about the best way to learn Italian, and make some suggestions about what to look out for based on those best practices.

The best way to learn Italian, even at the Italian for beginners stage, is to get as much immersion in the spoken language as you possibly can! You must hear the language being spoken. No that can seem daunting right at the start, but it is absolutely necessary.

Adults are different than children, but some of the language-learning concepts are similar. Not all of them, but some of them! A child learns by hearing the language being spoken and picks it up over time. The difference for adults is that they already speak a language. And they think in that language too - and this works against them.

The only way to overcome that is to get familiar with Italian sentence structure. And the only effective way to get familiar with Italian sentence structure is to hear the language being spoken.

For adults, if that exposure is in a guided fashion, within the parameters of an effective course, so much the better. Because while adults are dealing with overcoming thinking in their first language, their comprehension skills have developed to the point where the combination of the exposure to the language and the explanations for the context and structure provide a potent tool. And an absolutely necessary tool!

The other reason which causes many to fail is that they do not get enough practice or reinforcement. Be prepared to spend time every day! Not necessarily a lot of time - 30 minutes is probably the minimum! If you don't spend time daily you are also setting yourself up for failure!

If you're ready to move beyond the Italian for beginners level, you would be well-advised to make sure that your choice of approach incorporates the features mentioned above!

5 Effective Methods to Quickly and Easily Master English Grammar

We cannot deny the fact that learning proper English grammar is important. Do you want to feel embarrassed each time you speak English with a lot of grammar mistakes? Do people have trouble understanding when you speak English or confused with what you have said? Being able to speak and write in proper English is a main criterion to be successful and broaden your options in job and career advancement. Many people who would otherwise be successful are being held back by their bad command of English grammar.

There are many methods one could learn to master the English grammar but I would like to recommend the best 5 effective ways.

1. Learn the rules of English grammar by heart and memories them. As you know, grammar is the rules of a language which describe how sentences are formed. We need to know those rules in the same way as in Mathematics where the rules of computation and formula are required in order to get the correct figures. One of the best way to memories the rule is to write them down in a notebook and refer to it continuously until you could memories them all. However, mere memories the rule is not enough, you need to do as many English grammar worksheets and exercises as possible. Preferably doing objective form of English grammar test worksheet, and repeat the exercises until you got all the answers correct. One of the best English grammar test worksheet I found online is autotick English grammar worksheet where you could know your scope instantly by entering a password.

2. Read as many English books, magazines and newspapers as you can. Although it is said that reading might not appeared to be an effective grammar-learning activity, the truth is that the more you read, the more you are able to observe sentences that are grammatically correct. When reading books, you should focus on how the passages and sentences are constructed. You should look out for the grammar rules used for that particular sentence that you are not sure. You then need to remember, mark them and think about why it is used the way it is. You may need to refer to a good grammar reference book or dictionary to confirm its grammar usage. This will eventually help your grammar in a long run when you realized the patterns of the sentences encountered as you read.

3. Study one specific grammar rule and focus on it one at the time until you are fully aware and able to use it successfully. For example, if you are focusing on usage of verbs in the past tense, then you should study in detail its usage throughout the day. If you are not sure how to put a specific verb into past tense, you should resolve it by finding the correct answer during the day until you got it right. As time go, you will be able to know the correct verbs into past tense and thereafter you could move on to the next challenge with other grammar problems that you may be having.

4. Find out and learn by heart the common English mistakes most often committed by people. Just like the grammar rules, you need to memories them as well so as to avoid making the same mistakes. You could just make a search in the internet and find out the list of the most frequently committed English grammar mistakes and memories them by heart.

5. The final step on learning English grammar is to learn with fun. There are many types of educational games, English grammar worksheets, video games and even board games that are fun to learn available online. It is true that we will do our best if we enjoy doing. If you aren't having fun learning English, you will get bored very soon and reluctant to continue. When it is fun, there will be a motivation force behind to keep you stay on the task of learning.

In conclusion, there is no short cut to master the English language. Learning the proper usage of English grammar is just one of the requirements to master the English language.

It is estimated that one out of every five people in the world can speak English. You might be amazed to learn that there are more English speaking people in China alone than in the United States of America! It is therefore very important to be able to speak and write in proper English if you want to broaden your options in job and career advancement and be successful.

Slowly but steadily, Spanish too, is being used by a number of people residing in the country, irrespective of whether they are native central Americans or not. Learning French Free Tips

Learning French free can be a bit of a challenge. The main challenge is that you do need some structure to your learning French efforts, and if you are doing it all by yourself then you are piecing together bits and pieces or learning French free resources from wherever you can find them.

Having said that, there are a lot of resources available, and I'll try to bring some cohesion to the process here.

Learning French Free Tips

Firstly, stay away from any text-based resources for the most part. You will never learn French from a textbook, so why would any text-based resources be of any use. You'll learn some individual words and see some verb rules, but they will be out of context.

You can certainly find a good online dictionary or a good online translator. Many offer free sections which will allow you to look up the conjugation of a verb, or the translation of a word or phrase. But these should be back-up resources, and not the main elements of your learning efforts.

Audio exposure to the language is essential. One thing you can do when you have developed some basic French knowledge is to watch your DVDs in French with the English subtitles turned on. That way you can hear the language being spoken naturally and at the same time you can follow along in English.

You can probably also find free videos online which have English closed-captioning that you can use for the same purpose.

Make sure it is audio of complete conversations though. Pronunciation lessons on individual words are of little use at all! The trick is being able to string them into properly structured sentences, and that is here the audio immersion in complete sentences and complete conversations comes in.

Finally, a number of the online French courses offer free introductory courses. These are actually a great idea! First, they give you an insight into how the main course operates without taking any risk or making any investment. Second, because they are trying to impress you about how good their main course is - they tend to be pretty good all on their own.

They won't teach you French completely, but they are a good way to start learning French free. After that, you can decide how far you want to go! Just make sure that they have the right audio immersion modules to expose you to complete basic conversations in French in a guided fashion!

Italian Language Course That Works!

Is there an Italian language course that is better than all of the others? When you have decided to learn Italian you obviously want to choose the right tools to get the job done effectively. An Italian language course is necessary, but what are the features which make some better than others?

Let's try to briefly take a look at all of the alternatives and match them up with the best practices for learning any new language. Hopefully a winner will emerge, and you'll know the right path to take.

Two things are more essential than any other features if you want to learn Italian effectively.

First, you need daily practice. If you don't have time to practice daily at this point then you really should put off your plan to learn a new language, because you will not succeed. Why waste your time and end up frustrated? Daily practice is essential. This tends to rule out courses involving weekly classes or tutors.

There do not facilitate daily practice and you should only consider them if the materials they provide give you a detailed plan and blueprint for doing your own practice every day between the weekly formal sessions. Of course, if you can afford a tutor to come for an hour every day, seven days a week, that changes the equation. But there are much more cost-effective ways of learning Italian.

An online Italian language course can give you the right structure to get guided daily practice. Many people choose this option because it has proven itself to be the most efficient and cost-effective option!

However, to put you on the path to success the online Italian language course must incorporate some characteristics which are necessary to successfully learn the language.

Most have clever interactive tools to help you with vocabulary and verb conjugation. And these are useful and you might as well choose a course which has these. They are a fun and effective way to expand your vocabulary and conjugation skills in Italian.

But the element which is harder to find and yet so important is the component of audio immersion in real conversational Italian! Hearing the language being spoken naturally in the context of the types of conversations you will want to have early on is absolutely necessary. Bluntly - you will fail without it.

So now you can see what you want to look out for in your Italian language course. Audio immersion in guided, real-life conversations that you can access daily for the right level of reinforcement! That is the path to success with learning Italian!

English As a Second Language - The Challenges

There are several challenges to knowing English as a second language. The accent from your native tongue can have an effect on how people understand you. It can also be hard for you to translate words, phrases or meanings from your native tongue into English. English isn't exactly an easy language to learn. There are many different challenges that come up that can be considered roadblocks when learning English. If you are in this situation, don't get frustrated, and don't give up. There are ways that you can meet the challenges presented by this situation.

Do you know someone who speaks English perfectly and can help you? Try to trade lessons. You teach them your native language, and they can teach you English. They can correct you on pronunciation and spelling. It would be a nice bonding experience for you both. Just like knowing English as a second language is a challenge, knowing your native tongue as a second language will be a challenge for them. They will make the same mistakes you will, sometimes even more so. This can put your mind at ease about the challenges of learning English.

It also helps to watch English programs. If you have caption available in your language, you can turn it on while watching the program. However, this may not be a good idea if you find that you're actually dependent on the captions. You'll need to break free at some point, and listen to what is being said. Repeat words that you know or that you're familiar with. With words you don't know it helps to try to figure out what they mean by using the context surrounding the word. It's a common fact that exposure to English helps to improve the language in those who know English as a second language.

This applies to music as well. Many English speaking artists have come back from different countries, amazed that their fans knew every word to every one of their songs. Music is a global language. Anyone from any walk of life can enjoy a song. It doesn't matter what language it's presented in. All that matters is that you like it. Listening to English artists is a great way to learn the language. And it helps you make English speaking friends as well, because you'll now have something in common to talk with them about! Knowing English as a second language can be a challenge, but it can also be very rewarding.

It took way longer than I planned, but the pinyin plugin is finally done. It works, and I’m already using the beta release on Sinosplice.com now for the tooltips. Here are some samples of what you’ll be able to do when it’s done:

  • 中文

  • संस्कृता वाक्
  • Español

I went with the yellow style for Sinosplice, but there are 5 styles to choose from (the same five I asked for feedback on before).

The official release is coming soon. I’ll post a link when it’s out.

Online Spoken English Classes - Making Learning Easier

The best way to learn a language isn't from listening to tapes or using CDs. It's learning from someone who already knows the language. A real person is a better teacher than an automated or programmed lesson. They can help to correct any grammatical or pronunciation errors that you make. They can also help to make sure that you're not falling behind in your lessons. If there's something that you don't understand, a person can answer your questions. A programmed course cannot. A person can give you attention and walk you through what you need to know. This is why online spoken English classes are much more effective than any other method of learning English.

People can understand the challenges and needs of students who are learning in their classes. This also applies to courses taken online. Spoken English classes let students listen to the proper way for words to be used and pronounced. Listening is just as important as visual aids, maybe even more so. Listening allows the student to imitate what they are hearing. If they are using the wrong pronunciation or inflection, they can be immediately corrected by the teacher. They can also take suggestions from their teacher on what they can do outside of class to improve their understanding of the language.

Teachers can also encourage their students. Playing games that help to retain what they've learned is far more fun than sitting in front of a computer program. Since humans are social creatures, they learn quickly when they are grouped with their peers. This is how babies learn to talk. They pick up words and habits from their parents, who they've watched and observed for quite some time. As we get older, those methods for learning never leave us. Online spoken English classes takes advantage of this fact. The student is placed with other people in his situation, so that they can not only learn from their instructor, but their teacher as well.

Online spoken English classes can be very rewarding. As mentioned before, encouragement does sound better when coming from an actual human being than it does coming from something that's been programmed to tell you you've done a good job. In fact, it's possible to network with your fellow students and instructors long after your English classes are done. You've bonded with a group of people and established friendships that can last, all because you've all enjoyed the experience of learning English online.

Learning French As A Second Language Tips

If you are learning French as a second language there are certain tips which will help you out a lot!

Learning French as a second language is a great choice. In spoken form, it is a beautiful language, and most people learn French from a conversational perspective. These tips are geared towards those who want to become conversational in French as opposed to those who are studying the strict technicalities of the language.

From the perspective of purity, there have been strict controls on the addition of new words to the official language. Much more so than with other languages, although that has not stopped the inevitable emergence of regional dialects! However, this will be less of an issue for you than it is with some other languages!

Learning French As A Second Language Tips

Daily Practice Is Vital: There is no point in joining a weekly class and then assuming that attending the class is sufficient. You must practice every day, even if it is for only 30 - 45 minutes. Indeed, that is why many people choose online language programs - because they cater to daily structured practice.

Vocabulary And Verbs Are Not Enough: If you focus on learning new words in French and keeping score on an ever expanding vocabulary of individual words you are on the wrong track. This will get you an enlarged vocabulary, but it will get you no closer to French conversation! The same goes for verb conjugation. Both have their place in the process but they are not the most critical components by any means.

Courses which focus on these aspects too much are ineffective and are a waste of money. The same can be said for absolutely any textbook-based approach. You see lots of them in your local bookstore. And that is exactly where they should stay - unsold and gathering dust on the bookshelf!

Audio Immersion is the Key Element: There are many names for this. What it entails is immersion in the spoken language in a natural setting. If you can engage in real conversations with French speakers who will take the time to guide you - fantastic! Also, many of the online courses have excellent audio modules which plant you right in the middle of real conversations in a truly guided fashion.

This is the most vital element for learning French, because you have to overcome the sentence structure of your first language and embrace French sentence structure. Until you get to that point you will never be successful at learning French as a second language!

Why Take the Japanese SAT II Subject Test - 4 Reasons

If you're in high school, you have a lot of stuff to worry about. The last thing you want to do is take a test you don't need to take--much less the SAT, and even less in a tough subject like the Japanese language.

I'm guessing you already plan on taking the test. But in case you have any doubts or aren't sure for whatever reason that the test is worth the trouble, I have some reasons why it would benefit you to take Japanese Subject Test--based on my experience and others'.

Probably not all of these reasons will apply to you, but I'm guessing some of them will. Here are 4 reasons to take the Japanese SAT II:

1. Preparing for the Japanese SAT II is a great way to make some progress at the language. Some tests are stupid and don't really test skills that matter. The Japanese SAT II is not one of those. The material is good, and tests you on useful aspects of the language. More importantly, the process of prepping for it will help build your skills.

2. Colleges want to see some proof that you've reached a certain level in the Japanese language after having taken a year or two of it in high school. Of course, it's often harder for colleges to gauge your skill in Japanese because relatively few high schools offer it. Good grades look good (obviously), but the Japanese SAT II is about the only yardstick colleges can use to gauge your ability. If you're a homeschooled student, who maybe hasn't taken a class but who has taken up the language otherwise, you'll want this kind of yardstick, too.

3. On top of that, it reflects well on you. Taking the test shows boldness on your part, and certainly sets you apart from the throngs. If you talk in your application materials about how you'd like to pursue the Japanese language at the college level, pursue a major in it, etc., then it helps your case to show that you're kind of serious by taking the test.

4. The Japanese SAT II is great practice for any placement tests you'll have to take if you want to place into a higher level of Japanese when you enter college. If you're really comfortable with the material the test covers, or if you score really well, then placing into 3rd-year college Japanese is well within reach, without too much more work.

Just by taking the test, you're already setting yourself apart from a lot other people applying to college. It's a decent amount of work, no matter what. In a way, doing really well on it is just icing on the cake.

You should also keep in mind that the more words that you know, the easier it will be for you to speak Spanish fast. In today's lesson, you will learn two new Spanish vocabulary words.

1. Rel?mpago - Chispa el?ctrica entredos nubes o entre una nube y la Tierra.

An electrical spark between two clouds or between a cloud and the Earth.
(i.e. Lightning)

Primero se ve el rel?mpago y despu?s se escucha el trueno, esto occure porque la luz viaja mas r?pdio que el sonido.

(First you see lightning and then you hear thunder, this happens because light travels faster than sound.)
